We have been out in the nature garden making mini dens for some of our little toys. The children came up
with some brilliant ideas for ways to make the shelters and found all sorts of materials to use to put them together.

Maths in the forest! Our little explorers went out and gathered leaves, bark, pine cones and twigs. We used them to practice counting skills and to talk about big and small.

We made our own scales using a coat hanger and 2 buckets and then we "weighed" the things we had collected, putting more or less in each bucket to try to make them balance.

Our bug hunt in the nature garden was very successful. We looked under stones, bark, twigs and anywhere else we could think of and we also tried gently shaking a couple of the trees whilst holding a cloth underneath to see if any bugs fell down.

The results included woodlice, spiders, caterpillars, beetles, a slug and a snail. When we had finished looking at our collection using magnifying glasses we carefully returned all the bugs back to the garden.
