News - Early Years Professional Status

Dropping through my letterbox this morning was the exciting news that I have been awarded Early Years Professional Status. This status is the equivalent in early years’ education to Qualified Teacher Status. In order to gain this I had to demonstrate that I met a comprehensive set of 39 standards. These standards are concerned with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills needed to lead and deliver effective early years practice.

I studied for my Early Years Professional Status with the University of West of England whilst obtaining my Post Graduate Diploma.  The status is awarded by the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) which is sponsored by the Department for Education.

I am proud to be able to refer to my status especially as the CWDC state on their website that Early Years Professional Status is the Gold Standard for those working with children under the age of five.
