A Selection Of Our Activities From Term Four

Our new mud kitchen has been a resounding success! The hedgehogs enjoyed having a go with it in the holidays and the children are having a fantastic time with it now.

They have been sieving, mixing, making all sorts of weird and wonderful potions and baking cakes.

We have also been discussing emotions and feelings this term.

The children used a mirror to help them recognise how their faces looked when they felt different feelings. They drew pictures of different types of faces. We had happy, sad, angry, questioning, thinking, cross and confused faces!

Our gloop tray was incredibly popular. The children experimented with the cornflour and water mix, adding more of each to make the mixture thicker or thinner and using all kinds of objects to mark make in the goo!

They experimented with their hands too feeling how the mixture moves and we  heard descriptions like gluey, gooey, melting, messy, funny, sticky, squidgy and squishy.

We celebrated Hambrook Hedgehogs turning  5 years old!! The children had great fun with the hedgehogs and teddies in our role play area set up as a party tea.  We all sang happy birthday to Harry and had some hedgehog birthday cake.

We made our own daffodil picture to celebrate St David’s Day.

The children have also been trying out mark making in the rainbow salt trays. They have been writing their names and making all sorts of patterns and designs.
